“I walk out of LexNova Guild’s screening of Prima Facie starring Jodie Comer. I am moved. I am abhorred. I’m no lawyer, but I am inspired to enact change in any way I can, to fight against women’s subjugation. It’s funny how a film can do that to you, funny how our media plays out in reality.

So when it came time to bring Communitas into the world, I knew the setting had to match that ambition — liminal, the kind of place that loosens your grip on the everyday and opens you to something bigger. Tasmania in mid-winter is all its own: gothic, Georgian, atmospheric, and watchful. It suited the spirit of LexNova perfectly.

There's a particular kind of energy that descends when you're standing behind a velvet-draped table, wearing a tasselled turban, holding your own bespoke Major Arcana deck — and a room full of lawyers is looking at you like yes, actually, this is exactly what I needed today.
